Machining centers are classified by workbench location

The machining center is a CNC boring and milling machine that combines the functions of CNC milling machines, CNC boring machines, and CNC drilling machines, and is equipped with a tool magazine and automatic tool changing device. The axis of the spindle (Z-axis) of the vertical machining center is vertical and is suitable for processing cover plate parts and various molds;

The spindle axis (Z axis) of the horizontal machining center is horizontal and is generally equipped with a chain tool magazine with a large capacity. The machine tool has an automatic indexing workbench or a double workbench for easy loading and unloading of workpieces, which is suitable for workpieces after one clamping. Automatically complete multi-surface and multi-process processing, mainly used for processing box parts.

The machining center is usually classified according to the relative position of the spindle and the workbench, and is divided into horizontal, vertical and universal machining centers.

1. Horizontal machining center: refers to a machining center set in parallel to the main shaft axis and the workbench, which is mainly suitable for processing box parts.

2. Vertical machining center: refers to a machining center set up vertically with the workbench, which is mainly suitable for processing complex parts such as plates, discs, molds and small shells.

3. Universal machining center (also known as multi-axis linkage machining center): refers to a machining center that can control the linkage change through the angle between the machining spindle axis and the workbench rotation axis to complete complex spatial curved surface processing. Suitable for processing of workpieces such as impeller rotors, molds, cutting tools, etc. with complex spatial curved surfaces.
